When you’re planning to get married it’s easy to get very involved in the external, practical preparations and leave little time or energy to really think about the step you’re about to take. Avoidance by keeping busy is not the answer! Taking time to think about it, facing and working through any fears or concerns which arise along the way, will help towards you feeling relaxed, present, ready and excited on the day.
When you give yourself a moment to think about the step you’re about to take, you might feel overwhelmed; scared even. It’s a big thing to be the centre of attention for the day – some people love it and some hate it. It’s a big thing to make this commitment!
We encourage you to take the time to deeply reflect on the commitment you’re about to make. Around 95% of couples we’ve married regret loosing themselves in all the practical preparations and wish they’d taken some quiet time for rest and relaxation before the wedding.
Beware of the false economy of taking on too much of the last minute preparation at the expense of fully enjoying your big day. Involve responsible and reliable family members and friends and delegate as much as possible, just please don’t arrive for your ceremony exhausted and not able to enjoy the climax to all the preparation you’ve put in to your celebrations.
Individual and Relationship Support from £25 per hour
If as the wedding date draws closer you find you need or want additional support for any issues that arise within your relationship as you make your inner preparations, we offer individual one on one basic counselling at £25 per hour. (This is at a lower rate than the usual rate offered outside marriage preparations.) We use Miranda Holden’s Spiritual Counselling model.
We also offer Relationship Support, as a couple to you as a couple, combining our own relationship experiences and personal development with the Spiritual Counselling model at £60 per session (both of us for one and a half hours).
If you’d like to know more about this please call Will on 01309 692296.
Using the Spiritual Counselling model means that if it works for you we’ll use things like invocational prayer, silence, and guided visualisation aswell as the usual listening, questioning and re-framing found in other forms of support. We’ll endeavour to help you to feel relaxed and at ease by using language and beliefs which fit for you whatever they are.
We also can recommend a male Relationship Counsellor who is Relate trained but has a private practice and offers counselling in person and by phone. Also a female Relationship Coach who can offer counselling by phone or in person. Call either of us to discuss your needs and we’ll re-direct you. Angie 01309 692523 or Will 01309 692296 |
